Cultivating the Next Generation of Women in IT
Only 25% of tech jobs are held by women—and just 11% of executive tech roles. Those numbers don’t reflect a lack of talent. They reflect a lack of access.
TechBloom is a nonprofit IT apprenticeship program created to open doors for women who are curious about technology but unsure how to turn that curiosity into a career, all while providing a living wage to help propel participants to their futures.
TechBloom is the brainchild of Ann Cloyd, Founder and CEO of DeepTech, an IT partner that delivers secure, reliable technology solutions to small businesses, nonprofits, art galleries, and many other industries. TechBloom brings together real-world IT experience, structured learning, and paid, hands-on training to plant the seeds of opportunity and provide the structure, support, and nourishment women need to grow in IT.
This program is rooted in a simple belief: talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. With the right environment, talent can flourish.
Women are significantly underrepresented in IT support and technical roles. At the same time:
is often expensive and inaccessible
a clear, supported pathway into tech careers
often require prior “experience”
and women re-entering the workforce face additional barriers
TechBloom was created to close this gap, combining education, income, and real-world experience into a single program designed to help women take root and grow.
TechBloom empowers women to transition into careers in technical support through a structured, one-year apprenticeship program. Our mission is to remove financial and educational barriers by offering accredited training, mentorship from working technicians, and immersive field experience with working professionals.
We are committed to paying apprentices a full-time NYC minimum salary—funded through grants and donations—so they can focus on learning, growth, and advancement to level two technician roles. TechBloom fosters inclusive economic mobility by equipping women with the skills, support, and credentials needed to thrive in the technology sector.
TechBloom is a year-long, paid apprenticeship that provides a living wage while participants learn and work. The program combines multi-disciplinary study of books, online learning, and instructor-led sessions as well as practicals and technician shadowing, for hands-on experience.
In addition to technical training, apprentices gain essential customer service skills while learning the often-overlooked history of women in IT. Through the real-life stories of trailblazers like Margaret Hamilton, who led the Apollo 11 software engineering team and developed the onboard flight software that averted mission failure, participants gain perspective, confidence, and a sense of belonging in a long-standing tradition of innovation and leadership. Participants will receive foundational, job-ready training across a broad range of IT support disciplines, including:
IT fundamentals
macOS support & troubleshooting
Windows OS support & troubleshooting
Help desk tools and workflows
Customer support and communication skills
Cybersecurity basics
Backups and business continuity
Audio/visual systems
Networking fundamentals
Internet of Things (IoT)
Our goal is to help apprentices transition into in-house IT support roles at companies seeking skilled talent. Career support includes:

Ann Cloyd has spent her career building and leading IT teams while supporting businesses through complex technology challenges. As the founder and CEO of DeepTech, she has seen firsthand how difficult it can be to break into IT, especially for women without traditional technical backgrounds.
TechBloom is the realization of a long-held vision for Ann: a structured, inclusive apprenticeship that removes common barriers to entry and creates meaningful career opportunities for women in technology.
